Naya Bere
Nyaradzo Bere is a software engineer, speaker, and content creator, best known as the creator behind @theblackfemaleengineer- a vibrant platform that empowers over 200,000+ current and aspiring tech professionals across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
Raised in the U.S. by Zimbabwean parents, Nyaradzo- often called Naya- brings a deeply intentional and cross-cultural perspective to her work. She earned her degree in Finance and Accounting but launched her tech career after learning to code in just 6 months. She went on to work as a Software Engineer at DreamWorks Animation Studios, helping build internal tools used on major animated films. Her journey into tech was far from linear — and that’s exactly why her content resonates so widely. By sharing both the highlights and hurdles of her experience,
Naya has built a brand grounded in transparency, encouragement, and empowerment. Her content is equal parts educational and inspirational, offering job search tips, resume advice, coding tutorials, day-in-the-life vlogs, and mindset shifts- all through a distinct visual lens rooted in joy, precision, and style. From explaining AI with pop culture metaphors to designing weekly micro-app challenges, Naya makes technical topics feel fun and culturally relevant. Her voiceovers are often paired with lifestyle visuals that reflect her brand identity: soft but sharp, bold yet approachable. At the heart of her work are values of accessibility, representation, and cultural fluency. Naya doesn’t just teach tech — she redefines what it looks like to belong in the industry. She believes in demystifying complex information, normalizing emotion and joy in technical spaces, and ensuring that the next generation of engineers feels seen, prepared, and powerful.
My vision is to build a platform that makes the tech world feel more human, accessible, and empowering- especially for those who’ve been historically excluded from it. Through @theblackfemaleengineer, I aim to demystify complex topics, normalize joy and emotion in technical spaces, and prove that you don’t have to change who you are to belong in tech.
I create content to bridge the gap between raw potential and real opportunity. Whether I’m breaking down a resume strategy, building a micro-app, or sharing a behind-the-scenes moment of burnout or celebration, I want my audience to feel less alone and more equipped.
In the long term, I hope to grow my brand into a multimedia and product ecosystem- one that includes educational tools, original content, founder-led products, and in-person events. Through thoughtful brand partnerships and my own creations, I want to build a community that doesn’t just learn tech, but lives it with confidence, creativity, and cultural pride.”
